Day 21- St. Louis

Day 21: St. Louis 

Good morning, gents and lady gents, today on TWB, we woke up a little drenched and grumpy. Following a night full of events, we woke up around 6 to start our adventure through Missouri!

We took a pit stop at Walmart, while the cooks shopped for us, we quickly shoved all the food we bought down our throats due to our bus privileges still being revoked! The fan-favorite snack/meal remains popcorn chicken.

For breakfast, we ate a Pop-Tart and a handful of grapes. We proceeded to drive through the US and passed many cool landmarks along the way, such as the Kansas City Chiefs stadium. We took lots of naps and made 100 more friendship bracelets. For lunch, we ate a gourmet PB and J and chips and even got a "hugs" drink, which is new to our TWB tastebuds. We are even making more friends down to the last two days, as we continue to switch seats.

 

We arrived in the city and got to take a long walk to the Archway entrance as we couldn't find a close parking spot. We all used the restroom and sat through a short presentation about the history of the arch. We got to ride these little "eggs" up to the top, where we were blessed to look down on the city of St. Louis. As we ventured our way back down to the main level, we stopped at a food court in hopes of ice cream; instead, we got yogurt parfaits! We walked outside into the beautiful garden to listen to our friends present their research project. Marin stated she thought the arch was a part of the McDonald's sign.

After we accidentally went to incorrect campgrounds, we arrived at our final campground for tonight! We quickly realized we didn't have propane for our cooks to make up dinner. As our cooks went to quickly grab propane, we set up our sleeping spots and started on our jobs! While the bathrooms were locked, we exercised our bladders and learned that we will be driven to our showers tonight. Today was a day that we learned patience is a virtue. 

With an exciting dinner ahead of hibachi, we eagerly wait while we think about our time coming to an end. A lot of us got showers in and had to shuttle across the campgrounds for some of the warmest and most spacious showers we've had on the trip, much needed! 

 With an exciting last full day ahead, we will climb into our sleeping bags positively warm and reeking of the smell of citronella, trying to tame the bugs. We are so excited to go see the Kentucky Derby tomorrow. We are also so happy to have a real piece of chicken at the original KFC. Goodnight from the Grumpys! 

Day 20- Kansas

Day 20: Kansas 

Hi guys! This is the Grumpys. After a long night of glow stick wars, we surprisingly got to sleep in until 7 am. We started off our Fourth of July by singing the national anthem in the bus, followed by our punishment of listening to 100 ways to love a cat.

We arrived at Walmart on 2 wheels, sprinting through the store with a quick 10-minute round trip. We were shoving popcorn chicken into our starving mouths as we sprinted to the bus because our food privileges on the bus were revoked.

We arrived at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs after a quick drive. We split into 2 groups to make the tour more manageable. Our first stop in the wrestling and boxing facility, releasing some of our anger on the punching bags. Next, we headed to the Olympic-sized swimming pool, where we saw artistic swimmers hard at work in their 6'7 pool. We finished off the tour in the gym that used to be a military base in both World Wars! 

As we began our long drive to Kansas, we didn't have much choice in music because of our actions, but if you were lucky enough to be on the bus, you got to watch Rocky. Carson and Jack learned a bit more about fighting after the dance challenge last night. Some people bought the newest Lego F1 cars and built them as we went through the wheat fields of Kansas. As we drove, we added lots of festive wear and decorations for the Fourth of July.  After many long conversations, people began to get exhausted and took lots of naps. 

After a long morning, we finally remembered to eat our gourmet breakfast consisting of muffins and grapes. Soon after that, we ate a scrumptious lunch, including a turkey and cheese croissant sandwich with oranges. 

Following a long gas station stop, we found an oil rig on the side of the road and had to stop for an oil rig picture.

Before arriving at our campsite, we stopped to take a picture at the entrance of Kansas State University. We heard many presentations, including information on universities by Savy, Alyssa, and the best of all, the Grumpy member Ruby.

Finally, after a little detour, we arrive at the campsite where the bugs are as big as our quarters, and the humidity practically cooked our hot dogs for us. Our truly American dinner consisted of hot dogs, mac and cheese, and cookies. We can't wait to sleep on the green grass-covered hill after we finish our duty as bloggers.

Tonight while we sleep we will be dreaming of the egg ride through the St. Louis Arch and the view of endless corn. Fortunately, Kansas eventually ends as we enter Missouri.
