Day 17- Cody, Wyoming

Day 17: Cody, Wyoming

Hello, it's the Happys, AKA the worst cooks of the trip (sorry, Sophia, we love you <3), but easily the best songwriters ;) This morning we got up and got ready to go white water rafting in Cody, Wyoming.

The tour guides thought it was Halloween with their crazy costumes, and they even offered us some. We split into groups of 8-9 and hopped on a bus to drive to the river. The river was freezing, and the wind was blowing hard. As the rafts rode down the river, groups splashed the freezing water all over each other and even hopped on each other's rafts. When groups weren't attacking each other, they were admiring the beautiful sights of the Shoshone River. When we got done with rafting, we headed back to the campsite for breakfast.

When we arrived, we were welcomed by our wonderful counselors, Ian and Vickie, with a delicious breakfast consisting of sausage, eggs, grits, and orange juice. We all enjoyed it and were eager to get seconds!

After breakfast, our dwarf groups set to their jobs. The Grumpys had to tackle the pig sty (aka: the bus), the new cooks are the Sleepys, and they went to Walmart to prepare for our supper tonight.

We spent two hours at the laundromat, and while waiting for Grant, Emily, Jacee, Alannah, Rylie, and Kendra sunbathed on the grass in their moomoos. While they were napping, Josh spent over 400 dollars on boots, and Kinley got herself some new going-out boots. We indulged in a lot of fast food that we have been missing so much ( Dairy Queen, McDonald's, and Starbucks,) Jackson, Quinn, Carson, and Owen walked downtown, which, mind you it was like a mile and a half walk to play mini golf. We finally got to call home after 7 days with no TWB phones, and if you got a FaceTime, thank the guy who was hanging in the lobby. We Happy's know what it like to be a cook, so we let the new cooks get in front of us in the shower line so they could start cooking dinner. You would have thought we were having a TWB prom with all the girls who were getting ready in the bathroom for the Rodeo.

Once we were all ready, we had BLTs, more like BLs because no one likes tomatoes. We had to rush to eat because we had to rush to Cowboy Town to get our cowboy/cowgirl merchandise for the Cody Stampede.

We went shopping downtown and got hats. The hat corner was so crowded with TWB kids that it became very stressful to pick out our hats and get checked out. Some girls even bought rings worth over $200. After being parched from getting our hats, everyone headed over to the soda saloon to get dirty sodas.

After rampaging the streets of the downtown area, we crammed on the bus to head to tonight's marvel, the Cody Wyoming Rodeo. We all piled out of the buses and vans and marveled at the small food vans with water prices higher than the rain clouds forming above. We took some of the early time looking at the farm animals like moose, the bull with $10 photos, or the tiny petting zoo. Others occupied the early time buying up the stock of Cody Rodeo exclusive merch. When we made our way to our seats, we fought the wind for the right to our hats as the show began. The stands roared with our cheers and excitement so loudly that we got the attention of the announcers of the rodeo, giving TWB its own center spotlight on the Rodeo bleachers. The stands were erupting with pride for our nation and laughter from the announcers' bickering, and when it was time to go home, Wyatt was even able to get some signatures from the people in the rodeo.

We’ve now made our way back, and we just had to do some finishing touches before tonight's end. With an exciting day of travel tomorrow, and a 7:00 am wake-up time, we prepare ourselves for one of the nation's greatest monuments, Mount Rushmore. Be ready for tomorrow's blog, and remember, stay Happy :)
