Day 18-Custer, South Dakota and Mt. Rushmore

Day 18: Custer, South Dakota, and Mt. Rushmore

Heyyyyy, it's Happy's coming back at you with another great blog. We woke up refreshed and ready to take on the day after sleeping in until 7 am!!!! We had donuts and had to add a side of grapes, so it wasn’t completely unhealthy.

On the way to South Dakota, we had a long ride to see the presidents engraved on a rock. While Ian gave Miss America a history lesson on the world wars. Meanwhile, on the bus, Cooper had his makeup done by Sophie while they played card games.

We stopped at the gas station on the way to our next destination. After our snack privileges on the bus were taken away, we had to quickly eat what we bought at the store. The majority of us got free froyo samples, delicious!

We made the daily Wally-World stop, and Grant advised that we make a few laps around the store to get our steps in. Some of us are feeling a little under the weather, so the cough/allergy aisle was very popular. When checking out, we were ID’d and got some funny looks from the Walmart employees.

Custer Park, presentations, prepping for dance challenge, dinner (6-8) after getting off the bus in Custer Park,  from a long drive, we started off hearing our presentations on a few sites we have visited, then we broke off into our dwarf groups to work on our dance to “I Just Might” by Bruno Mars! Every group worked hard to complete a choreographed dance, but of course, the Happies worked the hardest as we prepared for hopefully our third dwarf win! After dancing our hearts out, we played on the playground as the Sleepys prepared an awesome meal…BURRITO BOWLS! Then we were off to see our presidents' faces!

We arrived at Mount Rushmore, and everyone gathered around to hear two more presentations. Then we began to take pictures, which were complicated due to all the TV screens, the stage, and chairs being set up for the arrival of President Donald Trump. We even saw the bomb squad there! The national park was so crowded that some of us waited in the ice cream line for over 45 minutes and didn't even have time to get anything.

When we got to the YMCA in Custer, the dwarf groups split up to do their jobs before heading to bed. We (the Happys) worked on our amazing blog, and the other groups did theirs to prepare for tomorrow. We sleep inside tonight with unlimited hot water; we’re all eager to shower after not being able to last night, though.

Today was a good and fun day! Tomorrow, we will have another long car ride day over to Colorado to see the Air Force Academy! Until tomorrow, families, friends, and loved ones. As always, remember to stay happy!
